On another blog I was having a discussion of what effects things like prezi could have on creative writing, especially concrete poetry, so I thought I'd give it a whirl. While making this I think I found the lower extreme of the zoom feature. When I was writing at the microscopic level, the controls went all wonky and it was hard for me to get the rotation and size adjusted correctly. This is extremely interesting to me because at the microscopic level, sub atomic particles act all wonky and no longer follow the laws of reality and physical matter. It was interesting to see this happening with the laws of this virtual reality and virtual matter. Funny how the much the new media is similar to the old. You can see the effect this has while watching it--the lowere extreme goes haywire in the playback. Anyhoo, here it is:
This is a very cool concept. Not only do the images in the poem itself spiral, you have this effect with the Prezi. This reminds me of those shape/image poems we wrote in 9th grade, but much fancier. I also like how the breath of the poem is accentuated with the time between clicks.
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome. After I completely botched the design of my own prezi, I started thinking about how I could've structured visuals to enhance the meaning of my text. And you did. Nice!
ReplyDeleteI agree with the awesome comment. It didn't go wonky on me. I loved the way you totally integrated the visual and the textual.
ReplyDeleteI liked this idea. My prezi was a photo journal but I really liked the idea of making it work for poetry, thanks
ReplyDeleteits interesting that the last line didn't go all wonky for you Tom. I would say its my computer but supposedly mine is state of the art. Of course it is a month old now, so it might already be out of date.
ReplyDeleteand here's something fun: if you click on the forward button a bunch of times really quick it will spin the opposite direction. I don't know if this fits in with the reading in any way, but its cool.
