I'm running out of title pizazz. Sorry. Anyway, I wish I'd had the Dilger and Clark articles at the beginning of the semester. No, I wish I had them when I was teaching, switching out out traditional essays for project assessments that included digital assignments.
Much of my teaching was instinctual. I could see the shifts in teaching writing. I knew from my jobs before teaching that it was unlikely students would be asked to write traditional essays in the all important "real world" -- unless they went into academia.
At the time I was concerned mostly with student engagement and motivation when I changed the assignments. I appreciate the articles helping me to name the processes I've gone through instinctually.
